Every full-feature order includes a 25-point pre-engineering check with a personalized
report listing non-conforming findings of your multilayer PCB design. Sunstone will
give you the option to proceed "as is" or upgrade to "Design Review Plus".
- Check to ensure we have all necessary PCB board design files in the proper formats.
- Determine that files submitted correspond with the part number placed.
- Any “read me” or special instructions are in conformance with Sunstone’s capabilities
and in agreement with values chosen on the online order form.
- Drawing callouts are conformant with Sunstone’s capabilities and are not in conflict
with order form.
- Check all required information has been supplied to define the required layer stack-up
and material for your multilayer PCB design.
- Check for dimensional accuracy against size supplied on order form.
- Check files for proper orientation and scale.
- Check to ensure that all layers of your multilayer PCB board design are properly
registered and that drill file coordinates match artwork layers.
- Check files to ensure that polarity is easily identified.
- Check drill file for complete tool code information.
- Check for complete aperture information.
- Confirm that the smallest hole size conforms to order form selection and is within
manufacturing capabilities.
- Confirm that the narrowest trace width conforms to order form selection and is within
manufacturing capabilities.
- Confirm that the smallest space between conductive elements agrees with the order
form selection and conforms with Sunstone’s manufacturing capabilities.
- PCB board design files do not conflict with any UL Specifications.
- Check files for proper annular ring requirements.
- Check files for sufficient clearances between conductive features.
- Check files for sufficient clearance from board edge to conductive feature.
- Check soldermask files for appropriate openings.
- Check legend line width to ensure legibility when printed on board.
- Check for legend encroaching solderable surfaces.
- Check PCB board design for any unintentional crossed circuitry that may cause a
non functional board.
- Check for any unconnected traces or unintentional breaks in the circuitry that may
cause a non functional board.
- Check to ensure that slots and cutouts are feasible and will not hit circuitry on
any layer of your multilayer PCB design.
- Perform a general visual check of PCB board design for any obvious errors that could
cause a non functional board.
Sunstone’s PCB Board Design Review Plus
In addition to the DFM 25 point review, for a small tooling charge,
Sunstone’s experienced pre-engineering and CAM team will work with you to resolve
the non-conforming findings for your PCB board design, and will make the necessary
edits to meet manufacturing requirements. Our PCB board design process will ensure
that your boards are standards complaint and capable of being manufactured by Sunstone.
A copy of modified Gerber files will be sent to you for your records.
